# Add widgets to a mobile dashboard

To build a mobile dashboard, you need to be an app admin and you need to build the dashboard using the desktop app. To build a dashboard, add widgets (reports, charts, tables, etc.) to the dashboard grid. Learn more about [creating dashboards](/v1/docs/using-dashboards) and adding widgets.

## Add report widgets to a mobile dashboard

You can add all report types to a mobile dashboard and put them on one screen for quick access. You can add these report widgets:

- Tables
- Charts
- Kanban
- Summary
- Timeline
- Map
- Calendar

## Add a button widget

Add a button widget to give your users a way to move between workflows in the mobile dashboard. You can add a button widget as a way for your users to submit forms, open a web page, etc.

## Add a rich text widget

The height of a rich text widget on a mobile dashboard depends on the widget's height in the desktop's dashboard grid. When creating a rich text widget, consider the cell's pixel height to make sure there's enough room for the text to display in mobile.

### Map dashboard grid cells to mobile

One grid cell on desktop is equal to 20% of maximum widget height on mobile.

| \| **Desktop grid cell** \| **Widget height on mobile** \| \| --- \| --- \| \| 1 grid cell \| 20% of maximum widget height \| \| 2 grid cells \| 40% of maximum widget height \| \| 3 grid cells \| 60% of maximum widget height \| \| 4 grid cells \| 80% of maximum widget height \| \| 5 grid cells \| Maximum height of widget \| |
| --- |
| **Desktop grid cell** | **Widget height on mobile** |
| 1 grid cell | 20% of maximum widget height |
| 2 grid cells | 40% of maximum widget height |
| 3 grid cells | 60% of maximum widget height |
| 4 grid cells | 80% of maximum widget height |
| 5 grid cells | Maximum height of widget |

#### Example layout from desktop to mobile

This example shows how the desktop grid translates to the mobile dashboard for rich text widgets.

#### Maximum widget height on mobile

The maximum height of a rich text widget on mobile is 5 grid cells on the desktop's dashboard grid. If you create a rich text widget that's longer than 5 grid cells on the desktop grid, it gets mapped to the maximum height on the mobile dashboard.

## Add a search widget

Search widgets let users search for a range of information. When searching, results appear in the mobile table report on a new screen.

## Add a web page widget

You can preview an embedded web page directly on the dashboard in the mobile app. You can activate the widget to interact with the web page or open it in a mobile browser (tap ![Open](https://cdn.document360.io/dd260e4e-10bb-4b66-8fb3-5504c272b904/Images/Documentation/16283006255892.png) in the upper right corner of the widget).

## Open widgets in the mobile app

When scrolling through a mobile dashboard, widgets (reports, charts, and tables) are view only. You need to tap the widget to activate it first and then you can open it.
