# Associate app home pages with roles

> [!NOTE]
> Note
>
> Home pages are limited in functionality. Use [dashboards](/v1/docs/using-dashboards) for a more robust view of your data across multiple apps and sources.

The [app's home page](/v1/docs/using-the-app-home-page) appears each time a user opens an app. You can [create](/v1/docs/create-app-home-pages) several custom home pages. In fact, you can have a different app home page for each [role](/v1/docs/working-with-roles). With this feature you can deliver content that is relevant to the role each member of your team plays.

Tip: If users access the application on mobile devices, read [tips for creating mobile-friendly home pages](/v1/docs/tips-for-building-mobile-apps#dashboard).

## Associate an app home page with a role

1. Choose **Users** from the sidebar, select **Settings**, then select **Roles**.
2. Under the Role column, select the role that you want, or select **+ New Role** to create a new role.
3. On the Roles page, select the **User Interface** tab.
4. Select the name of the home page that you want to display for this role from the Role home page list. If you don't make a selection, the default home page appears for the role. ([Read how to customize an app home page](/v1/docs/customize-the-app-home-page).)
5. Select **Save**.
