# Build from a template

When creating an app, you can choose **Start with** **a template** to start an app that directly relates to the problem you're trying to solve.

**Start with a template** helps tailor your app to include items specific to your business need. Your finished app includes guidance explaining how your app was assembled and contains sample data.

To use Start with a template:

1. On the My apps page, select **+New app**.
2. Choose **Start with a template**.
3. [Quickbase Exchange](/v1/docs/quickbase-exchange-overview) opens. Download an app template, then use Visual Builder to customize the app to suit the needs of your organization.
