# Change the properties of a role

You can access and change a role's properties at any time. Editing the permissions connected with a particular role affects the access rights of every user or group assigned to the role.

To edit a role:

1. On the app Home page, select **Settings** in the Page bar, then select **Roles**.
2. Select the name of the role that you want to change.
3. Select the **Properties** tab to change a role's name or description, make the desired edits, then select Save.
4. Select the **Permissions** tab to change the role permissions, then change the desired settings. (Learn more about [configuring role permissions](/v1/docs/configure-permissions-for-roles).)
