# Email a record

Emailing a record lets you send both a message and the record content together, so recipients can review all information in one place. This approach is often more efficient than copying content or sending a separate link to the record.

To email a record:

1. Display a report of the app that contains the record you want to email.
2. Select the view record icon next to the record you want to email, then select **Email** in the page bar.
3. Enter your recipients.

Quickbase gives you several ways to specify recipients. In the first text box, enter email addresses, Quickbase usernames, or [group](/v1/docs/what-is-a-group) names for the people you want to send the record to. Use commas, semicolons, or line breaks to separate entries. Or, select **Browse Users** to select users from a list using the [User Picker](/v1/docs/user-picker).
4. Edit the subject and message text if you want and select **Send Email** in the page bar.

## Security and permissions

Recipients see the record exactly as you see it. In other words, the only relevant security is your own View permissions.

If the record has a file attachment field that has been set to allow open access, the file is available to anyone who selects the link in the email.

## Send an email notification for record changes

To automatically inform others when records are modified, deleted, or added to an app, set up a [record change notification](/v1/docs/what-are-record-change-notifications).
