# Group name guidelines

Quickbase recommends choosing a group name that has 2 parts separated by a period (`.`).

- Use your organization name or billing account name for the first part.
- Use a name that describes the group's role in your organization for the second part.

Your group name must be unique across Quickbase.

## Group name requirements

Each part of the group name:

- Begins with a letter
- Is between 2 and 50 characters
- Contains only letters, numbers, hyphens (`-`), and underscores (`_`)
- Does not contain spaces
- Does not contain words that have a special meaning in Quickbase, like: *EOTI*, *Everyone*, *Public*, or *Internet*

**Examples**

Some examples of valid group names:

- ABC_Co.marketing
- ABC-Co1.engineering
- ABCCo.Cust-Support2
