# Introduction to Quickbase Pipelines Agent

The Quickbase Pipelines On-Premises Agent is a small self-contained software component that helps you connect On-Premises applications in your corporate intranet to Quickbase Pipelines.

> Note: This feature is available for users on one of our new Enterprise plans, either usage or user-based.

The agent creates an encrypted secure outbound connection to the Pipelines servers to safely call the APIs of locally installed services and applications, as displayed in this chart. The agent client supports end-to-end encryption. To encrypt and decrypt the data we use AES 256 symmetric key.
