# Manage data changes in audit logs

Realm admins can enable the ability to [track data changes in fields](/v1/docs/tracking-data-changes-in-a-specific-field). Then, realm admins, app admins, and super users can view the data changes from audit logs, and restore previous values in fields.

## View data changes

Realm admins can view data changes for the entire realm. App admins and super users can view data changes for their specific apps.

1. [Access audit logs](/v1/docs/audit-logs#access-audit-logs)
2. In the **Actions** column, find a **record_add**, **record_edit**, or **record_delete** action.
3. Select **View data changes** in the **Description** column to view details. ![Audit log Description column showing View data changes link](https://cdn.document360.io/dd260e4e-10bb-4b66-8fb3-5504c272b904/Images/Documentation/18338173972884.png)

If existing data was updated, the old values display in the **Previous value** column and new values display in the **Current value** column.

Learn how to [always show specific fields in data change logs](/v1/docs/tracking-data-changes-in-a-specific-field#show-a-specific-field).

> [!NOTE]
> Note
>
> Audit logs have a data size limit of 0.5 MB per record. When viewing data changes, this limit is split between previous and current values, equating to 0.25 MB per record.
>
> If the limit is exceeded, either as a result of tracking numerous fields or fields with lengthy values, the data shown in each field is truncated (not fully shown).

## Restore previous values

You can restore values to their previous state when viewing **Data changes** from audit logs.

> [!NOTE]
> Note
>
> The restore option is only available when accessing audit logs for a specific app, not for the entire realm.

To restore values:

1. [View data changes](/v1/docs/manage-data-changes-in-audit-logs#view-data-changes) from audit logs for a specific app
2. Select the checkbox next to the field(s) you want to restore
3. Select **Restore previous values**

A success message will confirm the value was restored to the previous state.

### Restore deleted records

When a record is deleted, you can create a new record using the same fields and values. The new record will not have the same record ID as the deleted record.

To restore a deleted record:

1. Select **View deleted record** from audit logs
2. Choose the fields and values you'd like to restore
3. Select **Use previous values to create new record**

A success message will confirm a new record was created using the fields and values from the deleted record.
