Each user profile has a unique username. You can sign in to Quickbase using any of your user names to see how role permissions affect different users. When you set up multiple user profiles, you must choose one as your default account. Quickbase associates this account with your email address. Whenever you or another user enters your email address (such as when signing in or sharing an app) Quickbase uses your default account. ## Create an additional user profile To create an additional user name: 1. Select your user icon on the Global bar, then select **My preferences**. 2. In the My user information section, select **Manage multiple user accounts**. 3. In the paragraphs that explain user accounts in the center of the screen, select **register with a new user name**. 4. Complete all required fields, then select **Register**. Quickbase sends a confirmation email. 5. Open the email and select the link provided to register your new account. 6. Enter your password to sign in to Quickbase. > [!NOTE] > Note > > In the future, if you want to refer to one of your additional accounts, you must use the user name. ## Set your default account To specify your default account: 1. Select your user icon on the Global bar, then select **My preferences**. 2. In the My user information section, select **Manage multiple user accounts**. 3. Under Default account, choose the profile you want Quickbase to associate with your email address, then select **OK** to save your changes. ## Use an additional profile for a service account Some teams register an additional user profile to create a service account. You create this profile the same way as any additional user profile: register a new username under an existing email address. > [!WARNING] > Important > > Quickbase supports this approach, but we don't recommend it. Consider these limitations before you use an additional profile this way: > > - Notification and confirmation emails still go to the email address on the profile, not to a separate inbox. > - Records and audit logs show the name on the profile that made the change. Reviewers need extra context to tell a shared or automated profile apart from the account's usual owner. > - When you invite a user by email address, Quickbase adds that email address's default account, not the additional profile. ## Invite an additional profile to an app To invite an additional profile instead of the default account tied to its email address, enter the profile's username, not its email address, when you share your app. For the full steps, read [Share apps with other Quickbase users](/v1/docs/sharing-apps-with-other-quickbase-users). > [!NOTE] > Note > > If you enter an email address instead of a username, Quickbase invites the default account associated with that email address.
