# Set the default view for the application

If you prefer users to access your app in mobile or desktop view, you can use the default view setting to optimize your users' experience. Set this default view at the app level for all your users on all devices.

If someone has admin permissions, the *mobile* layout is always applied as their layout on a mobile device. This is because the default view setting only applies to people within roles that don't have the following permissions:

- Manage users and share the app
- Edit app structures and permissions
- Turn off access to app for users with this role

To set the default view:

1. Open the application, and then select **Settings**.
2. Open **App properties**.
3. Select **Advanced settings** to expand the section.
4. In the Options section, select **Mobile** or **Desktop** from the dropdown.
5. Save your changes.

Users can change the view from the default.

To change the view:

- On a mobile device with a default desktop view, select the phone icon on the global bar.
- On a desktop with a default view of mobile, select the menu icon, then select the full site link from the menu.
