This article covers how to add a Document Viewer field and set it up for either use. ## How the Document Viewer field works A Document Viewer field works in one of two ways: - **Show a document:** You upload a file, such as a safety manual, and users open it while they work - **Collect a document:** Users upload their own file from their device, such as a signed permit For example, a work order can collect a signed permit from the technician before the job starts. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/dd260e4e-10bb-4b66-8fb3-5504c272b904/Images/Documentation/doc-05-preview-upload.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-29T23%3A45%3A22Z&se=2026-10-30T00%3A45%3A22Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=PXbUoW6YpEFCL9mXA%2BQYzhBEBKbNmA0Y%2BbhMq0QbrEM%3D) ## Add a Document Viewer field 1.
