FastField provides several built-in aggregation functions that allow you to calculate the **sum**, **average**, or **count** of a particular field. For example, you could use the sum function to calculate the total amount of sales for a particular product. ## Aggregation types **Count** - A count can be defined as the act of determining the quantity or the total number of objects in a set or a group. Thus, counting numbers can be used to determine the total amount of things. - E.g., *20 Barrels weighed today* **Average** - An average is a number expressing the central or typical value in a set of data. The average is calculated by dividing the sum of the total values in the set by their number. - E.g., *500lbs is the average weight* **Minimum** - The minimum is the minimum value recorded in a set of data. - E.g., *A Barrel weighed today at 412 lbs* **Maximum** - The maximum is the maximum value recorded in a set of data. - E.g., *A Barrel weighed today at 555 lbs* **Sum** - The sum is the total amount resulting from adding two or more numbers, amounts, or items. - E.g., *Total weight today is 23,192 lbs*
