We provide you with a number of different options that you can choose from to set the type of marker you want to use. The available options are: **Available pin colors** - Blue - PaleBlue - Red - Green - DarkGreen - Brown - Yellow - Purple - Pink - Orange **Available letters/numbers** Letters A–Z and numbers 1–100 are available for each color. You can use any combination of colors and letters/numbers—for example, *A-DarkGreen* ![Dark green map marker labeled A](https://cdn.document360.io/dd260e4e-10bb-4b66-8fb3-5504c272b904/Images/Documentation/95b0c2d06d-darkgreen_MarkerA.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-05T08%3A49%3A34Z&se=2026-11-05T09%3A49%3A34Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=bkNrT%2FBq422BxjH1ujHKzYT9CIIYB6JrFGul%2BVGl0S8%3D), *1-Purple* ![Purple map marker labeled 1](https://cdn.document360.io/dd260e4e-10bb-4b66-8fb3-5504c272b904/Images/Documentation/bf8875fd57-purple_Marker1.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-05T08%3A49%3A34Z&se=2026-11-05T09%3A49%3A34Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=bkNrT%2FBq422BxjH1ujHKzYT9CIIYB6JrFGul%2BVGl0S8%3D), or *11-Orange* ![Orange map marker labeled 11](https://cdn.document360.io/dd260e4e-10bb-4b66-8fb3-5504c272b904/Images/Documentation/c63eb90cad-orange_Marker11.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-05T08%3A49%3A34Z&se=2026-11-05T09%3A49%3A34Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=bkNrT%2FBq422BxjH1ujHKzYT9CIIYB6JrFGul%2BVGl0S8%3D). > [!NOTE] > Note > > The value of the field must be in the format -, with no space in between. ## Scenario 2—Set marker/pin color dynamically You can also change the color of the marker/pin dynamically based on the value of a field in that record. The example below illustrates how to do this, along with an explanation. Say a client managing records of patients in a hospital wants to set the pins based on their blood types. One example of the formula that the client can use is: ```plaintext If([Client Blood Type] = "O", "O-Red",   [Client Blood Type] = "A", "A-Orange",   [Client Blood Type] = "B", "B-Purple",   [Client Blood Type] = "AB", "C-Blue",   "N-Green") ``` To learn more about how to create formulas in Quickbase, refer to the official documentation on the [Quickbase Help Site](/v1/docs/building-forms-in-quickbase). If you have set up the QB Maps extension to show the legend on the map, you also need to edit the **Legend Properties** field in the QB Maps table, which is created in your app after installing the extension. For the example above, the value of the **Legend Properties** field is: ```plaintext "O-Red|Blood Group O \nA-Orange|Blood Group A \nB-Purple|Blood Group B \nC-Blue|Blood Group AB" ``` The **Legend Properties** field needs to be in the same format as the example above.
