You can also pick a field that Courier updates after it sends. The tab has two panels: **Sending Email Options** on the left and **Email Options** on the right. See [Create or edit a configuration](/quickbase-extensions/docs/create-or-edit-a-configuration). ## Sending Email Options (From) **From email** (required) sets the address the email comes from: | Option | What happens | | --- | --- | | **Use qbcourier@quickbasetools.com** | Courier sends from its shared sender address. This is the default for new configurations. | | **Use your own mailserver** | Courier sends through one of your mail servers, which you pick in **Mail server**. | When you pick a different option, the configurator asks *Are you sure you want to change sending email option?* Select **Yes**. The change is saved right away, and you see *Email Status updated!* With **Use your own mailserver**, you also see: - **Mail server** (required): the mail servers you've added, shown as *server - display name*. To add one, see [Mail servers](/quickbase-extensions/docs/courier-configurator-mail-servers). - **Mail server display name field** (optional): a field whose value is shown as the sender's name, instead of the mail server's email address. - **Email address field**: shown only when the selected mail server is set to send from an email address on the record. Pick the field that holds that address. ## Email Options (recipients) | Setting | Required | What it does | | --- | --- | --- | | **Email field** | Yes | The field with the To address or addresses. Separate several addresses with `;`. If the field is empty for a record, Courier skips that record. | | **Update field** | No | A date/time, date, or text field that Courier fills with the date and time each email was sent. Choose **None** to skip this. | | **Update datetime in QuickBase application timezone** | No | Writes the Update field in your Quickbase app's time zone. When it's off, Courier uses US Eastern time (EST/EDT). | | **I acknowledge these emails may send outside Quickbase** | No | Confirms that you understand emails from this configuration can go to people outside your Quickbase app. | | **BCC email** | No | Fixed BCC addresses, separated by `;`. | | **BCC email field** | No | A field with BCC addresses for each record. | | **Reply to** | No | **Enter a Specific Email Address** or **Use an Email Address from a field on the record**. Then fill in **Reply to email address** or **Reply to email field**. | | **Copy email** | Yes, in Test Mode | Fixed CC addresses, separated by `;`. In Test Mode, the sample email goes here. | | **Copy email field** | No | A field with CC addresses for each record. | | **Copy email from related table** | No | Also CC addresses stored in a related (child) table. See [Copy email from a related table](/quickbase-extensions/docs/courier-configurator-email-options-tab#related-table). | CC is **Copy email**, **Copy email field**, and the related table combined. BCC is **BCC email** and **BCC email field** combined. For how Courier handles recipients and invalid addresses, see [Email recipients and update email sent datetime](/quickbase-extensions/docs/courier-email-recipients). ### Copy email from a related table 1. Check **Copy email from related table**. 2. In **Related table**, pick a child table of the configuration's table. If the table isn't related, you see *Please select a table that is related*. 3. In **Selected field**, pick the field that stores the email addresses. 4. Optionally, enter **Query criteria** to choose which child records to use, for example `{'8'.EX.'Yes'}`. For each emailed record, Courier adds the addresses from all of its matching child records. ### Test Mode If the configuration's **Status** is **Test Mode**, **Copy email** is required. If it's empty when you save, an alert asks you to add it. In Test Mode, the sample email goes to the **Copy email** address as both To and CC, and no BCC is sent. ## Save - Select **SAVE AND NEXT** (**UPDATE AND NEXT** when editing). When the save succeeds, you see *Email options saved successfully*, and the **Email Message** tab opens. - Select **Back** to return to the **Configuration** tab.
