What are batch configurations?

Batch configurations are part of Quickbase enhanced security for Quickbase Extensions. A batch processor runs in the background, usually started by a Quickbase email notification, with no user signed in. A batch configuration records which parameters a batch run may use and the values each one is allowed to have. The batch arguments include configid= followed by the configuration's Config Key, and on every batch run the extension checks the run's parameters against that configuration before it does its work. If the key is missing or a parameter has a value that isn't allowed, the run stops.

The parameters that matter most are the ones that decide where the output goes. For example, faid controls where Exact Forms Plus saves the finished file, so it's locked to the field you chose.

When you set up a batch extension with the installation wizard, the wizard creates the configuration from the parameters in your formula and adds configid= for you. Image Resizer/Rotator is the exception: its wizard doesn't create a configuration yet, so submit a technical support case to have the first one created. The wizard also creates configurations for Docusign for Quickbase and EZ File Importer, but their batch runs don't check them. For each extension's arguments field and where a failed check shows, see Extensions that check batch configurations.

You can view and change configurations in the Batch Configuration Portal: in the Extensions Portal, go to My Extensions > Quick Links > Batch Configuration Portal.
