# Editing Records

## Details Mode—edit records

In details mode, you can edit the records associated with your files directly from the Document Portal—any field you specify in the clist (see [Add more columns to display](https://help.quickbase.com/quickbase-extensions/docs/en/add-more-columns-to-display)) is editable, given that it wasn't set to read-only, and it is normally editable on Quickbase. Some field types, such as user, address, and rich text fields, are always read-only in the portal.

Currently, there are two ways to edit records using the Document Portal: **Grid Edit** and **Pop-up Editor**. Each is explained in the following articles.
