Finish
Once the wizard has completed the installation, there is a confirmation page which lists all the fields (and tables if applicable) that were created.
As the wizard mentions, your setup is not 100% complete—you will need to at least set the Template Sequence before you can build a package. The post-wizard setup is described in Set up a package.
The confirmation page
The Finish step shows, from top to bottom:
In bold: Congratulations, you have successfully installed Package Builder in your Quickbase Application!
In bold: Your setup for generating packages is not finished! followed by You will need to set up the Template List on the <table> table! and Additionally, if you want this process to happen automatically, you will need to set up an Email Notification on the <table> table. <table> is the table you chose in Select Table to Setup.
Two links, Package Builder Template List and Email Notification Steps. The steps they refer to are now in Set up a package and Run a package in the background.
The following changes were made to your application: followed by Selected Table (a link to the table you chose), Added fields to these tables, and Created Table. The changes are listed below.
What the wizard created
Fields on the table you chose (the master table)
Field | Type | What it's for |
|---|---|---|
Package Builder Status | Text | Package Builder writes the result of each run here, for example Process Successfully Completed on and the date and time. See Run details and status. |
Package Builder Template Sequence | Formula - Text | The Record ID#s of the templates in the package, separated by periods, in the order they run, for example 4.3.1.2. The wizard leaves it empty; you fill it in. |
Package Builder Batch Arguments | Formula - Text | The parameters for runs in the background. The email notification that you create sends this field's value to the Package Builder address. It ends with type=packagebuilder (US) or type=packagebuildereu (EU), which must match that address. |
Process Package (Progress Bar) | Formula - Text, with Allow some HTML tags | A Process Package button that runs the package and shows its progress in a pop-up window. Until the template sequence is set, the field shows Template List not set. Please finish the setup for this Package Builder. instead of the button. |
The wizard also adds a Package Builder Batch Email field (Formula - Email), which isn't listed on the confirmation page. It holds the address that background-run notifications are sent to: packagebuilder@mail.quickbasetools1.com, or packagebuildereu@mail.quickbasetools.com for apps in the EU. The wizard doesn't create the email notification itself, a trigger field, or an Execute button; see Run a package in the background. For details on these fields and their parameters, see Formula URL parameters.
Fields on the Document Templates table
Field | Type | What it's for |
|---|---|---|
Add-On | Text - Multiple Choice: Exact Forms Plus, XL Docs, PDF Stamper, PDF Merger | Which extension runs this template as a step of the package. |
Arguments FID | Numeric | The field ID of the master-table field that holds the arguments for that extension. |
Not Required in Package | Checkbox | When checked, the package is still built if this step fails. |
Created table
Package Builder Run Details, related to the master table, with the fields Related <master>, Process Details, and Addon ran. Package Builder adds a row here for each step of each run. See Run details and status.
For background runs, the wizard also creates a batch configuration for your app, of type packagebuilder (US) or packagebuildereu (EU), and adds its configid to Package Builder Batch Arguments. See Batch Config Portal overview.
Next steps
Set up a package: fill in Add-On and Arguments FID on your templates and set the template sequence.
