The notification runs on the **File Imports** table (older apps and articles call it **Import Files**). When a file is added to a record there, the notification sends the record's **Import Generation Arguments** to EZ File Importer. ## Open the File Imports table settings Open the **File Imports** table, then select **Settings**: the gear icon at the top left of the page, next to the table name. ## Create a new notification Next, select **Notifications, subscriptions & reminders** and create a new email. ## Choose the notification type In the popup, select the **Notification** option and then select the **Create** button. ## Configure notification permissions and recipients - Select the permission type to be **Open: Emails sent openly to anyone**. - Give the notification a meaningful name, for example *EZ File Importer Notify*. - Enter the EZ File Importer email address in the **Notify whom** email addresses box. You can include other email addresses if you want others notified when the process has been requested for execution. The **EZ File Importer Batch Email** field on the File Imports table holds the right address for your account. - US accounts: [**ezfileimportermultisheet@mail.quickbasetools.com**](mailto:ezfileimportermultisheet@mail.quickbasetools.com) - EU accounts: [**ezfileimportermultisheeteu@mail.quickbasetools.com**](mailto:ezfileimportermultisheeteu@mail.quickbasetools.com) - Under **Notification when**, choose the option that sends the notification when a record is **modified or added**. In Quickbase it names your table's record type, for example *an Import File is modified or added*. - Select **Additional criteria**, and then: 1. Under **AND when**, select **Any of the following fields change**, and select the **File** field. The notification then fires when a file is added or replaced. The other fields in the list are **File Name**, **Refresh**, **Import Generation Arguments**, **Related Key Value**, **Related Key Value (Formula)**, **Related Configuration Group**, and **Record Owner**; leave them cleared. 2. Under **AND when the following conditions are true after the change**, choose **all** of these conditions, and add one: **File Name** **is not equal to** **the value**, with the value left blank. This makes sure the file isn't blank. ## Configure the email contents In the **Email Contents** section, select **Custom Message** as the **Message Type**, and then on the **Single record version** tab: - In **Subject**, use a descriptive name, for example *EZ File Importer - Test*. You can also add the `%AppName%` marker to the end. - In **Custom message**, add the **Import Generation Arguments** field by choosing it from the **Choose fields & markers** list at the top right of the message box. The message should contain `[Import Generation Arguments]` and nothing else. Then select **Save** to save the notification. ## Notes - After saving the Email Notification, make sure it is Active: in the list of notifications, the **Active** column shows a green check mark for it. The list also shows the notification's name, the details (*Sent whenever Import File records are Added, Modified*), the type (*Notification*), and the address it's sent to. - You might receive an error while saving the Email Notification. The page is titled *Notification Error* and says *This account may only send email to verified Quick Base users. Please contact Quick Base Customer Support for more information about this restriction.* If so, open a [technical support case](https://help.quickbase.com/docs/get-help-from-quickbase-technical-support) to allow your account to send emails to non-registered Quickbase users.
