Finish
When you select Finish on the EZ File Importer Setup step, the wizard installs EZ File Importer and shows the Finish step: a confirmation page that lists the tables it created.
Note
The wizard only creates the tables. You still set up your imports and the email notification that runs them; see EZ File Importer setup.
The confirmation page
The Finish step shows, from top to bottom:
In bold: Congratulations, you have successfully installed EZ File Importer in your Quickbase Application! followed by a link to the EZ File Importer documentation.
The following changes were made to your application: followed by Selected Application (a link to your app) and Created Tables. The tables are listed below.
What the wizard created
The wizard creates five related tables in your app:
Table | Type | What it's for |
|---|---|---|
Configuration Groups | Table | The control table. Each group ties import files to the import configurations that process them. Key field: Configuration Group (required). Buttons: Add Import File and Add Import Configuration. |
File Imports | Table, related to Configuration Groups | One record per spreadsheet you import. Key fields: File (required), Related Configuration Group (required), Related Key Value, and the console fields below. The wizard's information screen and some older articles call this table Import Files. |
Import Configurations | Table, related to Configuration Groups | How to read a spreadsheet and where to put the data: Target Table DBID (required), Field Mapping Info (required; Map_Fields_By_Column_Name or Map_Fields_By_Column_Letter), header, starting and ending rows, sheet number, and the optional search-table settings for updating records. |
Field Mappings | Table, related to Import Configurations | Which spreadsheet column goes to which field: Column Name/Letter (required), Field ID, and the options Write A Value?, Value To Write, and Update Search Table?. |
Import Run Details | Table, related to File Imports | One record per import run: Status, Notes, Records Processed, Start Time, End Time, Run Duration, and Sheet Number. |
Console fields on File Imports
Field | Type | What it's for |
|---|---|---|
Import Generation Arguments | Formula - Text | The console arguments for an import: the app, the file imports table and record, the file field, the import configurations, field mappings, and run details tables, the record's configuration group, and the configid of the batch configuration. It ends with type=ezfileimportermultisheet (US) or type=ezfileimportermultisheeteu (EU), which must match the address in EZ File Importer Batch Email. Your email notification sends this field's value to the EZ File Importer address. See EZ File Importer formula URL parameters. |
EZ File Importer Batch Email | Formula - Email | The address your email notification sends to: ezfileimportermultisheet@mail.quickbasetools.com, or ezfileimportermultisheeteu@mail.quickbasetools.com for apps in the EU. |
The wizard also creates a batch configuration for your app, of type ezfileimportermultisheet (US) or ezfileimportermultisheeteu (EU), and adds its configid to Import Generation Arguments. See Batch Config Portal overview.
The wizard doesn't create a configuration group, import configurations, field mappings, the email notification, or a button to start an import.
Next steps
Set up the tables for EZ File Importer: create a configuration group, an import configuration, and its field mappings.
Set up the email notification: send Import Generation Arguments to the EZ File Importer Batch Email address to run an import.
