Find X and Y coordinates with Adobe Acrobat

Prev Next

To find the X and Y coordinates, open the document you're using in Adobe Acrobat Pro.

  1. Select View, then Show/Hide, then Cursor Coordinates. Cursor Coordinates is the last item in the Show/Hide submenu, below Rulers & Grids.

  2. Move the cursor over the document. A small black box appears at the upper left of the document area and shows the position of your cursor relative to the document, for example X: 221 pt and Y: 225 pt.

What if the units are displayed in inches?

If your coordinates are displayed in inches, you can change them to show points, which is the unit we use.

  1. Go to the menu at the top of the screen:

    • Windows: Click the hamburger menu (top left) > Preferences.

    • macOS: Click Acrobat in the top menu bar > Preferences.

  2. Select Units & Guides from the Categories list on the left side.

  3. In the Units section, change the Page & Ruler Units value to Points.

  4. Select OK.

The coordinates are now displayed in points.
