To create a PDF, change a parameter in the formula URL field used to generate a document. The URL parameter docfmt can contain the following values: doc or pdf. So changing &docfmt=doc to &docfmt=pdf indicates to Exact Forms Plus that the output document format should be pdf. The PDF generation process starts with Exact Forms Plus creating a Word document first, then converting it to a PDF.
Unsupported elements
The following is a list of unsupported elements that are not preserved in the generated PDF document. We hope to support these elements in future releases.
- Shapes and auto shapes
- Comments
- Hyperlinks
- Bookmarks
- Footnote and endnote
- Dynamic fields
- Charts
- Table of contents
Known limitations
- Borders around paragraphs
- Full justification
- Images placed inside a shape are not preserved
- Tables using patterns and 3D borders are not preserved
- Absolutely positioned tables are not supported
- Table styles for Word 97-2003 documents are not supported
- Pagination—Exact Forms Plus! makes sensible decisions while laying out the text, and its supported elements while generating the PDF documents—however, we cannot guarantee pagination with all the documents.
