# QB Signatures Setup

After the standard [Authorization](https://help.quickbase.com/quickbase-extensions/docs/en/step-2-authorization) and [Application information](https://help.quickbase.com/quickbase-extensions/docs/en/step-3-application-information) steps, the wizard shows the **QB Signatures Setup** step. It has three settings, then **Previous** and **Finish** buttons at the bottom right.

1. **Select Table to Setup** (required)—the table where QB Signatures is installed. The signature fields and **Sign Off** buttons are added to this table. If you select **Finish** without choosing one, the wizard shows *Please select a table you would like to set up with QB Signatures.*
2. **Select a Field for the Signer to Fill Out** (optional)—a field the signer completes in the signing window, such as their name. The signer sees a text box labeled with the field's name, and their entry is saved to this field.
3. **Select another Field for the Signer to Fill Out** (optional)—a second field, such as the signer's title.

For each field drop-down:

- The drop-downs stay unavailable until you choose a table in **Select Table to Setup**. Choosing a different table clears them.
- Choose an existing field, or choose **Create a Field** at the top of the list and enter a **New Field Name** to have the wizard create a new text field.
- The list shows every field on the table. Choose a text field: the signer types into a text box, and the entry is saved as text.
- After you choose a field, the **Is This Field Required?** checkbox appears next to it, checked by default. Clear it to let the signer leave the field blank.
- A field chosen in one drop-down can't be chosen in the other.

Select **Finish** to install. The wizard then shows what it added—see [QB Signatures Finish](https://help.quickbase.com/quickbase-extensions/docs/en/qb-signatures-finish). To change these choices later, or to add options such as a terms document or a different pad size, edit the button formula—see [Signatures formula URL parameters](https://help.quickbase.com/quickbase-extensions/docs/en/signatures-formula-url-parameters).

## If the wizard won't finish

When you select **Finish**, the wizard checks your choices and shows the first problem it finds in the red banner at the top:

| **Message** | **What to do** |
| --- | --- |
| *Please select a table you would like to set up with QB Signatures.* | Choose a table in **Select Table to Setup**. |
| *The usertoken selected does not have permissions to create fields in the <table> table. QB Signatures needs permissions to create fields in order to continue the setup.* | The wizard adds fields to the table, so the token's user must be able to create fields in it. Go back to [Authorization](https://help.quickbase.com/quickbase-extensions/docs/en/step-2-authorization) and use a token for a user who can, such as an app admin. |
| *Please enter a name for the new field.* | You chose **Create a Field** but left **New Field Name** empty. Enter a name. |

## Add QB Signatures to another table

Run the wizard again for each table you want signatures on.
