This article explains how to update your email notifications for QB Courier and Text My QB to use our newest security features: you add each configuration's **Config Key** to the notification. You need the Config Key of each configuration you update. QB Courier and Text My QB keys aren't batch configurations, so they aren't in the Batch Configuration Portal. You get each key from the extension's own configurator: - **QB Courier**: the configuration's **Finish** tab in the Courier Configurator. See [Email notification setup for triggered configurations](https://help.quickbase.com/quickbase-extensions/docs/en/courier-email-notification-setup-triggered). - **Text My QB**: the configuration's **Config Info** tab in the Text My QB Configurator. See [Create a Text My QB configuration](https://help.quickbase.com/quickbase-extensions/docs/en/text-my-qb-configurator-create#config-info-tab). If you have questions about changing any of these notifications to comply with our new security measures, submit a [technical support case](https://help.quickbase.com/docs/get-help-from-quickbase-technical-support). ### Email notifications #### Identify configurations and notifications You may have many email notifications within your app, or many tables, which makes it hard to find a given notification. The following method helps you quickly find email notifications. 1. In your app, open **App Settings**. Under **Advanced Features**, select **App management** (*Manage your app and its data*). ![Quickbase App Settings menu showing the App Management option](https://cdn.document360.io/dd260e4e-10bb-4b66-8fb3-5504c272b904/Images/Documentation/ed3971ccf6-image.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-05T05%3A09%3A32Z&se=2026-11-05T06%3A09%3A32Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=ZQKTx51Lk8C67glEpEc6%2FfsjrAP%2BQyLg%2BRgwzwzWh6k%3D) 2. Under **Manage App Contents**, select **Manage notifications, subscriptions & reminders**. The list shows all the email notifications, subscriptions, and reminders in your app. ![App Management page showing the Manage Notifications, Subscriptions, and Reminders option](https://cdn.document360.io/dd260e4e-10bb-4b66-8fb3-5504c272b904/Images/Documentation/04a16321aa-image_1_.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-05T05%3A09%3A32Z&se=2026-11-05T06%3A09%3A32Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=ZQKTx51Lk8C67glEpEc6%2FfsjrAP%2BQyLg%2BRgwzwzWh6k%3D) 3. Find the notifications to update by name, or by whether they're sent to an email address that contains *quickbasetools.com*. #### Update notifications Open a notification and find its custom message (the email body). On the **Single record version** tab, the message looks like one of these: - QB Courier: *configid=Q2:1234 recid=[Record ID#] type=courier* - Text My QB: a message that starts with *configid=1234* ![Email notification body showing the configid parameter with its value](https://cdn.document360.io/dd260e4e-10bb-4b66-8fb3-5504c272b904/Images/Documentation/af578a20b2-image_3_.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-05T05%3A09%3A32Z&se=2026-11-05T06%3A09%3A32Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=ZQKTx51Lk8C67glEpEc6%2FfsjrAP%2BQyLg%2BRgwzwzWh6k%3D) In both cases, 1234 is the **Config ID**: the number of your QB Courier or Text My QB configuration. It isn't a batch configuration's Config Key. Next, get the configuration's Config Key: - **QB Courier**: in the Extensions Portal, on the **QB Courier** tile, select **Configurations**. Edit the configuration with that Config ID and go to its **Finish** tab. Under **Email Notification Setup**, select **View Email Notification Settings** (available for configurations with the **Trigger** processing mode). The **Custom Message** it shows includes *configkey=* followed by the configuration's key. - **Text My QB**: open the Text My QB Configurator from the Text My QB extension page and open the configuration. On the **Config Info** tab, select **Config Key** (shown as *...* and its last 6 characters) to copy the full key. For an outbound configuration, the **Configuration String** on the **Processing** tab already contains the whole message, including *configkey=*; select **Copy** to copy it. See [Outbound texting](https://help.quickbase.com/quickbase-extensions/docs/en/text-my-qb-configurator-outbound). Then edit the notification's message as plain text. The message editor can add formatting characters you don't see, so select **Source** in the editor's toolbar (second row) to open the **Source** window, and make your changes there: ![Notification message editor with the Source button in the toolbar](https://cdn.document360.io/dd260e4e-10bb-4b66-8fb3-5504c272b904/Images/Documentation/d60dc50470-image_4_.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-05T05%3A09%3A32Z&se=2026-11-05T06%3A09%3A32Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=ZQKTx51Lk8C67glEpEc6%2FfsjrAP%2BQyLg%2BRgwzwzWh6k%3D) 1. Remove anything in the message other than the parameters, so that only the text parameters remain. 2. Add *configkey=* followed by the Config Key, with a space before it and after it. If you copied a Text My QB Configuration String, replace the whole message with it instead. For example, a QB Courier message then reads: ``` configid=Q2:1234 recid=[Record ID#] configkey= type=courier ``` > [!WARNING] > Important > > Make sure there's a space between each parameter, and no spaces inside a parameter. Save the notification. After you update a Text My QB notification, [submit a technical support case](https://help.quickbase.com/docs/get-help-from-quickbase-technical-support) to tell us. For QB Courier, submit one support case when you're done updating all of your notifications. Your email notification now uses our newest security features. If you have questions about changing any of these fields to comply with our new security measures, submit a [technical support case](https://help.quickbase.com/docs/get-help-from-quickbase-technical-support).
