Here you choose the Quickbase user token that the extension uses to read and change your app. **Setup Table** skips this step and uses the token already on file for the app; see the [installation wizard overview](https://help.quickbase.com/quickbase-extensions/docs/en/juiced-add-on-installation-wizard-overview). The wizard signs in with a Quickbase user token only. To create or manage one, see [User tokens](https://help.quickbase.com/docs/user-tokens) in the Quickbase help. ## What the user token needs - **Your company's realm.** The token must belong to a user in the Quickbase realm on your Extensions account. The wizard checks the token on *.quickbase.com*, and then on *.quickbase.eu*. - **Access to the app.** The token must be able to reach the app you want to set up. Only apps the token can access appear on the next step, **Application information**. - **Permission to create tables and fields.** Most extensions add tables or fields to your app, so the token's user needs permission to create tables and fields in it. The wizard checks this on **Application information**, after you choose the app. The extension keeps using this token after setup, so choose a token for a user who will keep access to the app. If the token is later deleted or regenerated, a Client Admin can replace it in [Client Credentials](https://help.quickbase.com/quickbase-extensions/docs/en/client-credentials). ## The Authorization step The step shows these controls, from top to bottom: 1. **Select an Authorization Method**. A drop-down list with two choices: If your company has no saved tokens yet, the list and the grid don't appear, and you see only the text box. - **Use Existing User Token** (selected by default) shows the grid of saved tokens. - **Enter a New User Token** shows a text box for a new token. 2. **The token grid** (with **Use Existing User Token**). Each row is a user token that your company has already used to authorize an app, for any extension. The columns are: | **Column** | **What it shows** | | --- | --- | | **Select** | A radio button. Select it, or anywhere on the row, to choose that token. | | **Email Address** | The email address of the Quickbase user the token belongs to. | | **Last 6 characters of User Token** | The end of the token, so you can tell tokens apart. Saved tokens are stored encrypted and are never shown in full. | 3. **Enter your User Token** (with **Enter a New User Token**). Paste the whole user token from Quickbase. A user token is at least 34 characters long. If what you enter is shorter, the box gets a red outline, the wizard shows *Usertokens are at least 34 Characters in length.*, and **Next** stays unavailable. The wizard reads the user's email address from the token. Select **Next**. The wizard signs in to Quickbase with the token, then shows **Application information** with the apps that the token can access. Nothing is saved on this step: a new token is saved, encrypted, with your Extensions account when you finish the wizard. ## Messages If the wizard can't use the token, it stays on this step and shows one of these messages in a red banner: | **Message** | **What to do** | | --- | --- | | *A User Token was not provided. Please enter a token.* | Choose a row in the grid, or paste a token into **Enter your User Token**. | | *Usertokens are at least 34 Characters in length.* | Shown under the text box while you type. Paste the full token. | | *The User Token provided has no access to .*, followed by a line about contacting support | The token didn't work on your realm. Check that it hasn't been deleted or regenerated in Quickbase and that it belongs to a user in your company's realm. Then try again, or use another token. | | *The User Token provided has no access to any apps in . Please use a different token with access, or add thedesired apps to the selected token and try again.* | Give the token access to the app you want to set up in Quickbase, or choose a different token. | | *The app id requested was not set up yet with . Please select a token and proceed.* | Shown when you opened the wizard with **Setup Table** for an app that isn't set up with this extension yet. Choose a token and continue. | | *The User Token you have for this app does not have access. Please select a different token.* | Shown when you opened the wizard with **Setup Table** and the token on file can no longer see the app. Choose or enter a token that can. | For the wizard's error codes, the messages on every step, and answers to common questions, see [Installation wizard messages and troubleshooting](https://help.quickbase.com/quickbase-extensions/docs/en/installation-wizard-messages). ## Next [Application information](https://help.quickbase.com/quickbase-extensions/docs/en/step-3-application-information): choose the app to set up.
