Text My QB Configurator messages and troubleshooting

Prev Next

This article lists the messages you can see while setting up and using Text My QB, grouped by where they appear, and the values Text My QB writes to your records after each text. For each one you get the cause and what to do. Messages are quoted exactly as they appear, so you can search this page for the text you see. Common questions are answered at the end, in Frequently asked questions.

Available to: all roles with the Text My QB extension.

How messages appear

  • Toasts. Most configurator messages slide in at the bottom right of the window. A colored bar on the left shows the type: green for success, blue for information, red for errors. Some close on their own after about 15 seconds and show a shrinking progress bar; the rest stay until you select them. Select a toast to dismiss it.

  • Error page. If an error stops the configurator from loading, the window shows Oops! Something went wrong., then the reason, then Please close this window. Close the window, then open the configurator again from the Text My QB extension page.

  • Results of each text. The configurator doesn't show what happened when texts were sent. Text My QB writes the result to the Status Field on each outbound record, and to the Delivery Status Field in your activity table. See Status Field values. For incoming texts, see Incoming texts.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I get my Esendex license key and phone number?

From your own Esendex account. Text My QB sends and receives texts through it. If you don't have an account, sign up with Esendex, then get the license key and a phone number (DID) from your Esendex account and enter them when you create a configuration. See Before you start.

Execute On Demand keeps saying "This config still has a pending on-demand execution." What do I do?

The earlier request hasn't finished. Wait a few minutes and check your records. Before you request a run, make sure the configuration is Enabled (or Test Mode) and saved, and that the report has records. If you still see the message long after your request and no texts went out, submit a technical support case so the pending request can be cleared.

The Outbound Setup tab says 2mb. What's the attachment size limit?

Keep the total for one text under 1.5 MB. The note on the Outbound Setup tab says 2mb, but above 1.5 MB the recipient's carrier may not deliver the text. Attachments must be in file attachment or URL fields in the File Attachments list, and files in URL fields must be reachable without signing in. For the file types you can send, see Send images.

How do I delete a configuration?

Configurations can't be deleted. Set Configuration Status to Disabled and save. See Stop using a configuration.

Do Test Mode texts count as usage, and who gets them?

Test sends aren't counted as Text My QB usage. They're still real texts, sent through your Esendex account to the numbers on your records, so test with records that have only your own number.

Nothing opens when I select Add, Edit, or Copy. Why?

These open a separate pop-up window, which your browser may be blocking. Allow pop-ups for the Extensions Portal and try again; see Allow pop-ups. If a window opened behind your browser, look for it in your taskbar. After Copy, the copy was created even if its window didn't open: close and reopen the configurator, and select Edit on the copy's row.

A field or table isn't in the dropdown. Why?

The lists are read from your app when the window opens. Close the configuration window and open it again with Edit. If you're copying to a different app, make sure that app is authorized for Text My QB.

Still stuck? Submit a technical support case and include the configuration's name and any message you saw. See also the Text My QB Configurator overview.
