April 2018 Release NotesJust as April showers bring May flowers, this month's release sets the stage for exciting features coming in May. Our April release spotlights enhanced features for realm and account admins, who can now: View and download enhanced audit logs that show record access as well as when a user, table, or app is created Access all admin functions in one place via a new Admin Console We're also releasing auto suggestions in the formula builder. And coming soon is a new my Apps page, realm-level visibility into user tokens, enhanced report builder, a new Zapier connector, and Quick Base Automations, which continues in early access this month. The April release of Quick Base, including the features and fixes listed in these release notes, is available starting Sunday, April 22, 2018. SPOTLIGHT Enhanced audit logs include record access plus when a user, table, or app is created Included with Platform and Unlimited plans with 6 months of data retention. Available as an add-on for Premier plans. Realm admins can gain greater visibility into activities by viewing and downloading audit logs for record access as well as when a user, table, or app is created. Audit logs help ensure you meet your organization’s security standards and corporate compliance policies. By default, audit logs have 6 months of data retention. Retention packages will be available for 1, 3, and 7 years. Admins can view the last 90 days of audit log information in the user interface and download the rest. To view and download audit logs: Click Audit in the left-hand navigation bar of the new Admin Console or Audit Logs on the Manage Billing Account page to view 90 days of information. Click Download and enter a date range to download a .csv file of audit logs and click Download to confirm. Access all your admin functions with the new Admin Console Last month, we debuted our new Admin Console, which lets realm and account admins manage all their administrative functions in one place. Now this new console is the default view. Soon, the Admin Console will be the way to manage all your admin functions. This console includes all of the new admin features—audit logs, session management, and the new user management interface—combined with the functions available through the Manage Billing Account page. Access all these features from the left-hand navigation bar of the console. Account Summary page in new Admin Console: Users page in new Admin Console: To access the old experience, click Use original experience. You can click Try new experience to return to the Admin Console. Notes: The Users with Access, Directory, and Deny tabs from the Manage Billing Account section do not appear as separate links in the left-hand navigation bar. These features are included in the new user management interface available by clicking Users. The new navigation has links to both the Account Summary and the Realm Summary. Admins will see one or both depending on their access level. Build formulas more easily with auto suggestions in the formula builder Create formulas more easily with auto suggestions while you type. Auto suggestions show you the expected type for your formula component and provide a dropdown to choose from. We also provide suggestions of app variables, so you can more easily correct your errors as you write. Note: We're looking for feedback on this feature enhancement. If you have comments or suggestions, please open a support case. Support discontinued for Microsoft Internet Explorer 9 and 10 Quick Base is committed to enterprise-grade security and to continuously promoting security across all aspects of our service. As part of this effort, we ended support for Microsoft Internet Explorer 9 and 10 browsers on March 31, 2018. These browser versions, not supported by Microsoft, pose increasing security risks to their users and organizations. You will still be able to access Quick Base with Internet Explorer 9 and 10. However, the latest technologies used in building new Quick Base features will not be supported by these browser versions. It is likely that, over time, your product experience will become unpredictable and inconsistent. Accessing Quick Base with supported browser versions means improved security and the ability to take full advantage of the latest and greatest Quick Base features and enhancements. For more information, view our blog post. COMING SOON New My Apps page coming in May Coming with our May release, you’ll begin your day in Quick Base with a completely redesigned My Apps experience. It features much of the same functionality as the current My Apps, but with a cleaner look and simplified user interface. View our blog post for more information. Realm-level visibility into user tokens: Early access Platform and Unlimited plans only This month, we're beginning early access testing for realm-level visibility into user tokens. This feature is not part of our active code, but can be turned on for customers who are a good fit for our testing. With this feature, platform admins will be able to view a list of all user tokens with information including the user token's name and which apps they are used in. If you are interested in early access to this feature, open a support case. Improved report builder: Early access We're launching early access to a smarter search experience in Report builders. When you create a chart, calendar, timeline, or other report, you can save time by getting a filtered list as you type in any dropdown. For example, if you're searching for the field "Start Date," typing in "Date" will get you a filtered view of all field names that include Date. If you are interested in early access to this feature, open a support case. Quick Base Automations: Early access continues Our new automations feature is now available for early access testing. This feature is not part of our active code, but can be turned on for customers who are a good fit for our testing. An automation is a set of rules you define to automatically perform actions. Automations allow you to reduce repetitive steps, replace manual processes, and ensure clean data. This month, we refined the selection of fields for automation actions to highlight required versus optional fields. Also, we fixed an issue with the App Settings page so there is no gap between Variables and Automations if Sandbox is hidden. Each automation consists of a trigger, which is what starts your automation, and one or more actions that happen in a specific order. Actions can add, modify, or delete records, or run a previously created table-to-table import. You can also streamline your automations by pulling in data from your trigger or previous actions. We are planning to release this feature for all Quick Base customers with our May release. Updated Zapier Connector: Beta In February, we launched our Beta for an updated Zapier connector to enable more powerful and secure integrations connecting Quick Base with over 1,000 cloud apps. On May 31, 2018, we will launch this new connector. The connector will enable you to automate your exact workflows without writing code. Examples include automatically Creating a new record in Quick Base when someone completes a Typeform survey Adding a new event to your Google Calendar when a record is added to Quick Base Catching a data set via a webhook and inserting it into Quick Base as a record Some of the improvements we have implemented include: A better record-created trigger that lets you filter down record creation events. The improved trigger reduces the number of Zaps that have to run. Advanced actions that make Zap building faster and more efficient, like Find and update Find and update or create Delete UserToken support that makes integrations more secure and easier to maintain We will be sunsetting the current Zapier connector on May 1, 2018. Although you will still be able to run and edit existing Zaps, you will need to use the new connector to create a new Zap. To activate the new Beta Quick Base connector, use this link. Note: Zapier is a third-party integration service. To use the Quick Base connector, you will need a separate account through Zapier. ALSO IN THIS RELEASE Now, if you update your name in Quick Base, this information will carry over to Quick Base University. Participants in our certification program will have names that match their Quick Base profile without the extra step of updating their names twice. After users are logged out due to session expiration, the next time they log in, they will be redirected to the page they were previously viewing. If you use the charting frameworks Dundas or MSCharts, you will see a notice that these older frameworks will be sunsetted in the May release. If you need assistance converting from Dundas or MSCharts, you can reach out to support or Customer Success. We enhanced the user experience for roles and permissions to make it harder for app admins to accidentally lock themselves out of an app. When you select a role from the Manage Roles page, we provide the ability to temporarily disable app access for all users assigned to the role. Now, app admins will not be able to disable access for their own role. NEW RESOURCES Enhanced Knowledge Base We're enriching the content on our community site by adding Knowledge Base articles that will be actively curated and updated as we add new features to our platform. The Quick Base Knowledge Base is your library of frequently-asked questions about building apps to solve your business problems. Knowledge Base articles that previously lived on a separate site that is now retired. New in Quick Base University Quick Base Certification: In our effort to improve the certification experience, we will release a new Certification Exam format in April. This new experience will allow better navigation, the ability to tag questions, and more feedback on your performance. Registration for our new certification exams is free until June 30, 2018. Below are the issues we fixed this month. Note: Platform security, billing changes, back-end tooling, and performance are all ongoing commitments and as such, each release may include changes in these areas. Issue ID Description QBE012158 When a summary report included a column grouped by a multi-select text field, the column header was unreadable due to font color. This has been fixed. QBE012308 We fixed an issue with formula real-time error checking. App variables are now recognized as valid. QBE012336 We improved error handling in the formula builder. QBE012344 Now, if you have Manage permissions to a group but are not an account admin, you can successfully add group members to your groups by selecting Manage groups in the top right menu, and then selecting Add. QBE012350 Apps with App IDs (also called DBIDs) containing "nv" now correctly display the new calendar reports. QBE012362 The Keep me signed in checkbox on mobile shortcuts now works properly.
