To upload a file to an empty field: 1. [Create or edit the record](/v1/docs/add-or-edit-a-record) containing the file attachment field. 2. Select **Choose File**. 3. Browse to and select the file you want to post, then select **Open**. The file attachment field temporarily displays the location of the file you chose. > [!NOTE] > Note: The size limit for file attachments is 100 MB. 4. Select **Save** to save changes to the record. The file attachment is shown as a link, which you can select to view the file. If you want to replace it, you must [edit the record](/v1/docs/add-or-edit-a-record). > [!NOTE] > Note: If you've posted an image file, you can display the picture instead of a link to it (on a display form only). To do so, [access the field properties](/v1/docs/change-the-properties-of-a-field-from-a-legacy-form) of your file attachment field and select the **Show .jpg, .png and .gif files as images in forms** checkbox. ## Upload a new version of an existing file If you've downloaded a file and made changes, you can upload the new version and attach it to the same record. To upload a new version of an existing file: 1. [Create or edit the record](/v1/docs/add-or-edit-a-record) containing the file attachment field. When you edit a record, the file attachment field displays with additional options. 2. Select **Delete** to remove the current file. 3. Select **Upload file** to browse to and select the new file, or drag and drop it directly onto the field. 4. Select **Save** to save changes to the record. Quickbase attaches the new file to the record. The program usually saves the file you replaced, along with previous revisions, behind the scenes. [Learn more about versioning](/v1/docs/using-quickbase-for-document-management). 5. If you reserved the document, [release the reservation](/v1/docs/release-a-reservation).
