Access Forms

Prev Next

You build and manage forms in the portal. Your team fills them out in the FastField mobile app or the web app. This article covers how to find your forms, open the Form Builder, and access forms in the app.

How forms are organized

In the portal, your forms are under Forms > My Forms:

  • Forms: The main forms your team fills out

  • Subforms: Reusable, repeatable (typically smaller) forms you can add inside forms.

You can build forms in the Form Builder or the Legacy Form Builder. Both builders create the same standard FastField forms, so you can open any form in either one.

Find your forms in the portal

  1. In the portal, go to Forms > My Forms.

  2. Select Forms or Subforms.

The Forms page with My Forms, Forms, and Subforms in the navigation

  1. Enter a form name in the Search forms box.

Each form has an Actions menu. Use it to edit the form, view its details, start it, and more.

Tip

Select the grid layout icon to see your forms as tiles with their thumbnails.

Open the Form Builder

  1. On the Forms page, select New Form.

  2. Select Form. To create a reusable subform, select Sub Form.

  1. Select Form Builder.

The Create a new form dialog with Form Builder selected

The Form Builder opens on the start screen. Choose how you want to begin:

  • Have a paper or PDF form? Upload a PDF or Excel file, or photograph a paper form.

  • Describe your form: Describe the form in plain words, and FastField drafts it for you

  • Start from scratch: Select Open blank builder to add fields yourself

FastField saves the new form as a draft as soon as you choose an option. If you close the start screen first, no form is created.

Note

New subforms skip the start screen and open in the builder. With AI features turned off, new forms also skip the start screen and open as a blank draft.

Access forms in the FastField mobile app

Your team submits forms in the FastField mobile app on iOS and Android, or in the web app. From the main menu of the app, you can open:

  • Form Libraries: The forms in your account's libraries

  • Forms: All the forms you have access to

  • Inbox: Tasks that have been dispatched to you

If you build forms in the app, creating a form opens the Form Builder directly. The app doesn't ask which builder to use.
