You can change a saved form or subform at any time, or finish building one you started. This article covers how to open a form in the Form Builder, save your changes, and release them to users.
How editing works
Edits you make in the Form Builder stay private until you publish them:
Save Draft keeps your changes without releasing them. Users keep the published version.
Publish releases your changes to users as a new version of the form.
Editing a form doesn't change submissions you've already collected. You can open any form in the Form Builder or the Legacy Form Builder. Both builders work on the same form.
Open a form for editing
In the portal, go to Forms > My Forms.
Select Forms or Subforms, then search for your form.
Select Actions, then select Edit Form. For a subform, select Edit Subform.

Select Form Builder.
The form opens in the Form Builder. The header shows the form name, the version number, and whether the form is published.

Tip
You can also open a form from its Form Details page. Select Edit Form on that page.

Save and publish your changes
Make your changes on the canvas, for example add, move, or edit fields.
The header shows unsaved changes, and the Save Draft and Publish buttons appear.
Select Save Draft to save your work, or select Publish to release it to users.

Important
If you close the Form Builder with unsaved changes, FastField asks you to confirm. If you close anyway, your changes are lost.
Edit a form with the Assistant
You can also ask the Assistant to make changes for you. It can add, move, rename, and delete fields, sections, and pages, and change most field settings.
Select Assistant in the side bar.
Describe the change, for example Make the Description field required and move it after Title.
Send the message.
The Assistant makes the change on the canvas and tells you what it did. To reverse it, select the undo icon in the Assistant tab.

The Assistant can't publish forms, edit field scripts, or set up Quickbase mappings.
Note
Assistant changes aren't saved until you select Save Draft. The Assistant is available when AI features are turned on for your account.
