How to connect FastField with Autodesk

Prev Next

FastField's Autodesk integration further aligns field staff with the back office for teams in the construction space. Autodesk Construction Cloud, a portfolio of software and services that includes Autodesk® Build, Autodesk® Docs, and BIM 360®, combines advanced technology, a builders network, and predictive insights for construction teams. This integration of Autodesk Construction Cloud and FastField improves the automatic delivery, consolidation, and organization of reports—making project managers’ lives easier.

What can the Autodesk integration do?

This integration empowers users in the construction space with the following capabilities:

  • Automatic delivery of field inspection results to Autodesk Build, Autodesk Docs, or BIM 360

  • Consolidation of project reports and data into Autodesk Construction Cloud

  • Proof of completeness of a project by keeping documentation in the related project folder

  • Delivery of data from various forms, including inspections (e.g., building, OSHA, safety), checklists (e.g., safety, QC, punch lists), and more

How does it work?

Project managers can create inspections, checklists, and other forms in the FastField Portal. Using Global Workflow, these forms can then be directed to Autodesk, where users can log in to their Autodesk account to benefit from consolidation, organization, and data insight features.

Prerequisites

Before you get started, make sure you have the following:

  1. FastField Account: You'll need an active FastField account.

  2. Autodesk Account: You'll need access to your Autodesk account.

Connect FastField with Autodesk

To set up the Autodesk integration:

  1. Go to the FastField Portal and log in with your credentials.

  2. In the Portal, go to Workflow > Integrations and select + New Integration.

  3. Under Choose an integration, choose Send to Autodesk.

  4. Name your integration and select Connect and Authorize with Autodesk. Then, select Allow to authorize the integration.

  5. Select Add to finalize the integration. You'll be able to disconnect and reconnect this integration at any time by toggling the Enabled button on the Integrations page.

Integrate Autodesk into Global Workflow

Autodesk can also be integrated into Global Workflow actions. To do this:

  1. In the FastField Portal, go to Workflow > Global Workflow and select + New Integration.

  2. Name your workflow and choose whether you want to assign this workflow action to any form or a specific form.

  3. Under Perform these actions, select Send to Autodesk from the dropdown list.

  4. Next, name your action and choose either an existing or new Autodesk integration. If you've already authorized Autodesk through the integrations tab, those integrations will be shown here.

  5. Choose your Integration, Hub, Project, and Folder where you'd like to deliver your data.

  6. Set the Delivery Format (e.g., PDF, Word, Excel) and select Add.

Your FastField account is now connected to Autodesk. Data will be delivered to the FastField cloud database and directly into your Autodesk Construction Cloud or Autodesk® BIM 360® document's folder.

Manage your Autodesk integration

If you ever need to pause Autodesk notifications or change the destination channel, you can manage your Autodesk integration directly from the Workflow page of the FastField Portal. Here, you have the flexibility to adjust settings, update notification destinations, and even disconnect Autodesk from FastField if necessary.
