Exact Forms Plus! configurator
We created a utility for Exact Forms Plus! to help with the Document Template creation process called the Exact Forms Plus! Configurator. It's accessed from the Document Templates table that was created during the Exact Forms Plus! setup process. Navigate to the Document Template record you want to configure and select the Exact Forms Plus Configurator button.
Use the configuration utility to select the fields that you want to appear in the generated document. There are three ways to run the configurator tool: two from the Document Template record and one from Document Subtable records.
Which one should you use?
Use the Exact Forms Plus Configurator (also known as EFP Configurator) button from the Document Template record for two reasons:
To select and edit the fields you want from the master, or parent, table.
To manage existing subtable configurations, and to add a new subtable configuration. Subtable configurations are used to define the data from another table that you want to include in the output document, in the Related or Child table data section of that document.
Use the Add New Document Subtable button from the Document Template record.
To create a new subtable configuration for the Document Template.
Use the Edit Subtable Configurator button to edit an existing subtable configuration record.

Master table data selection
Use the Exact Forms Plus Configurator button to select the fields from the master table, Purchase Orders table in our example, that you want to appear in the top portion of the template.
When you need to modify the fields selected from the Purchase Orders table, select the Exact Forms Plus Configurator button on the Document Template record, then select additional fields or remove unwanted fields.
Related table data selection
Select the related or child table, Purchase Order Details table in our example, as a table that you want to display data from. Then select how the data in the Purchase Order Details table relates back to the Purchase Orders table, and select the fields from the Purchase Order Details table that you want to show in the template. This is all done using the EFP Configurator.
When you need to modify the fields selected from the Purchase Order Details table, select the Edit Subtable Configuration button in the Document Subtables grid.
Important
If you're including the full settings parameter list in the template, after saving your selections you need to copy the parameter list from the Settings field in the Document Subtables record you created or edited, then paste it into your Word document. Re-upload that Word document for those changes to take effect.
Tip
It's more efficient to use the template reference ~strid=x~ in the document template—see the template reference field in the Document Subtables table. Using the template reference instead of the full parameter list lets you make changes to your Subtable configuration in Quickbase without having to change the full Subtable parameter list in the template and re-upload it to Quickbase.
