User interface

When a user clicks an Image Resizer/Rotator button on a record, a small window opens and processes the images. There is nothing to fill in—the window shows progress and then the result.

The window

The window is a single card with three parts:

  • Header—Image Resizer (with a resize icon) for resize buttons, or Image Rotator (with a rotate icon) for rotate buttons.

  • Body—a spinner with the text Resizing image... or Rotating image... while the images are processed. When processing finishes, the spinner is replaced by a result message and a Close button.

  • Footer—Quickbase Image Resizer/Rotator.

The window's size is set by the button's data-height and data-width values. If the window doesn't open, your browser may be blocking pop-ups for Quickbase—see Configure pop-ups.

Results

  • Success (shown in green)—Total number of images resized: 2. Please refresh your browser to see resized images. (or Total number of images rotated: 2. Please refresh your browser to see rotated images. for rotate buttons). Refresh the record to see the new images.

  • Success with a note—if an image was processed but didn't fully meet the request, the success message ends with Note: and an explanation. For example, when an image can't be made as small as the requested file size: Note: Resized partially successfully - could not resize below 256000 bytes. The image is still saved at the smallest size that could be reached.

  • Error (shown in red)—Error occured while resizing image(s): (or Error occured while rotating image(s): for rotate buttons) followed by one or more messages, separated by commas. Images that were processed before the error are kept.

Click Close to close the window.

Messages

For every message the window can show—what causes it and what to do—see Image Resizer/Rotator messages and troubleshooting.
