Tags Configurator

Prev Next

The Tags Configurator lets you place tags on a document template by dragging them onto the PDF. You set up each tag's type, size, position, and data in a side panel.

You can also place tags by typing anchor text in your document. See Place tags with anchor text. For what each tag type does when recipients sign, see Document tags.

Before you start

  • Open the template in your Document Templates table and select Launch Tags Configurator.

  • The template needs a PDF in JuicedSign PDF Template.

  • The PDF must be under 20 MB and must not have its own form fields. Use a plain PDF.

  • Tags you save here are saved to your JuicedSign Recipient Tags table, one record per tag.

Check the file and recipients

The configurator first opens Welcome to the tags configurator.

  • Check the file name, number of pages, orientation, and file size.

  • Under Add or remove recipients, set how many recipients you place tags for:

    • Add Recipient adds one more, up to 15.

    • X removes a recipient after you confirm. Their saved tags are deleted, and the recipients after them move up a number.

  • If the template already has tags, their recipients are listed.

  • Select Proceed to Tags Configurator. You need at least one recipient.

Add a tag

  1. Choose the recipient at the top left.

  2. Drag a tag type from Tag Types onto the document. Clicking a tag type doesn't add it.

  3. The tag panel opens. The tag gets a name like r1_textbox_3: recipient, type, and a number.

  4. Change any settings, then select Apply Changes.

  5. Select Save.

  • New tags start at 110 × 20. Checkboxes start at 16 × 16, and Approve or Decline at 180 × 40.

  • If you add another tag before applying the last one, you're asked whether to save it. Cancel discards it.

Open, move, and delete tags

To

Do this

Open a tag's settings

Double-click it. A single click only selects it.

Move a tag

Drag it. Its settings open.

Resize a tag

Drag a handle on its edge. Its settings open.

Delete a tag

Select it and press Delete. It's removed from your table when you save.

  • Tags placed together with Find And Attach are a group. Opening one first asks You are attempting to change a set of grouped tags. Do you want to proceed?

  • Deleting one tag in a group deletes the whole group.

  • Copy and paste don't work in the configurator, and the browser's Ctrl + scroll zoom is turned off.

Tag settings

The tag panel has up to five sections. Which ones you see, and what's in them, depends on the tag type.

Name and Type

  • Name: required. A name that helps you find the tag in your table.

  • Type of Tag: set by the tag type you dragged. You can't change it here. To change the type, delete the tag and add a new one.

Tag Placement Details

Two tabs. Sizes and positions are in pixels on screen and saved in points.

Page/X-Y Placement places one tag at a fixed spot:

  • Page, X, Y, Height, and Width.

  • After you change a value, select Confirm Repositioning And Dimensions to move the tag.

Find and Attach places the tag next to text in the document, everywhere that text appears:

  1. In Anchor String, type the text to look for. Case doesn't matter.

  2. Set Horizontal (X) Offset and Vertical (Y) Offset: how far from the text to put the tag.

  3. Select Find And Attach.

  4. The configurator tells you how many times it found the text. Select Proceed to add a tag at each one, or No to go back.

  • If the text isn't found, nothing is added.

  • The tags are added at the default size, 110 × 20. Resize them after.

  • While Anchor String has text, the tag is placed by the anchor, not by X and Y.

  • To move every tag in the group, change the offsets and select Confirm New Offsets.

Validation Checks

  • Required: the recipient must fill in the tag before they can finish.

  • Validation Pattern (Textbox only): a preset, or Add your own. Presets: Phone, Zip Code, SSN, Email, Date, Credit Card Number, Expiry Date.

  • Validation Message (Textbox only): what the recipient sees when the entry doesn't match.

Fonts And Formatting

  • Font family (default Arial), size (default 14), colour, bold, and italic.

  • Textbox, Email, and Number also have Character Limit and Multiple Lines.

  • Signature, Initials, and Approve or Decline have Signature Button Text, the label on the button. Signature and Initials also have Edit Signature or Initials.

  • Multiple Choice has its list of values. Select one as the default.

Bring Data

  • Links the tag to fields on the record you send from.

  • Show Data: fill in the tag from a field on that record. Enter the field's ID.

  • Save Data: save what the recipient enters to a field on that record. Enter the field's ID.

  • See Document tags.

Apply and save

  • Apply Changes keeps the open tag's settings in the configurator. Nothing is saved yet.

  • Save saves all your tags to your table. A Tags Modification summary lists the tags added, changed, and deleted, and any errors.

  • If you close the browser tab without saving, your changes are lost.

Preview

  • Select Preview, then choose a recipient. You see the document with that recipient's tags, as they'll see it.

  • Preview shows saved tags only. Save first.

  • If preview can't open, the message tells you which tags are missing.
