Send images

For outbound text messages, you can send files and images from your Esendex number.

To send images, you need either file attachment fields or links to saved files on the internet stored in a field. These fields need to be on the record the text is being sent from, in the Outbound Table of your outbound configuration.

For links to files, those files need to be available without permissions, but a file attachment field just needs your user token to have access to it. Please make sure the files are accessible.

To choose which fields are sent, open your outbound configuration in the Text My QB Configurator and go to the Attachments Configuration section, which is the last section of the Outbound Setup tab. It has two lists side by side:

  1. Available Fields (left)—lists the file attachment fields and URL fields in your Outbound Table. Other field types are not listed.

  2. File Attachments (right)—the fields whose files are sent with each text.

Drag each field you want to send from Available Fields to File Attachments (or select it and use the transfer arrows between the lists), then save the configuration. You can select as many fields as you need.

Note

If there are issues with the files you are trying to send, whether it be that the file is corrupt, too large, or some other issue where we can't send it, you can choose to either still send the message or not have it sent at all with the Send Text Even If File Can't Be Sent switch, which is in the Outbound Configuration section. When it's on, the text is sent along with any files that did not fail. When it's off, the text isn't sent if any file fails. Fields that are blank do not count as failed files.

Limits for files

While there isn't any limit on the number of files that can be sent with one message, there is a limit to the total size of all files.

The total size depends on the carrier and other things of the recipient's phone, but it is typically around 1.5MB.

Please keep the size of the files in mind when sending out messages.

The allowed file types are:

JPEG, JPG, GIF, PNG, TXT, PDF, XML, HTML, WAV, WMA, WMV, BMP and TIFF, MPEG AUDIO and MIDI, MPEG VIDEO, 3GPP and MPEG-4
