Set user token permissions

Prev Next

User tokens are created under a specific Quickbase user account, so it's important to make sure it has the proper permissions. Since the user account is assigned to a role, make sure that role has the following permissions for our extensions to work properly:

Note

Only one user is required to create a user token for a single company. A user token can be assigned to up to 20 apps at once.

  1. Go to Roles, and under the Permissions tab, the role should have Edit app structure and permissions selected. This provides schema-level access, which our extensions use to confirm the app has the proper authority to run.

  2. Set the permissions for the role so it can read or write to the fields used by our extensions. If a particular user can use our extensions without any issues, that's a good representation of the permission level needed by the role the user token is created under. You don't necessarily need to provide full administrative access for the role—it can be limited accordingly.

Note

Although it isn't necessary, a user account can sometimes be created and used strictly as a service account. It might not be used by anyone specifically but is assigned to a role for our extensions or other integrations.
