Legacy form field types on mobile

This article applies to legacy forms on mobile. To learn about field types on our updated forms experience (available on mobile since April 2025), refer to Form field types and components on mobile.

On legacy forms, several fields behave differently in the mobile app and mobile web browser than in the desktop app.

  • No rich text editor

  • Content appears with HTML formatting tags

Numeric

Date

Same as desktop app

  • Tap the field and select a date

  • Tap outside the component to dismiss date

Date / Time

Same as desktop app

  1. Tap the field and select a date

  2. Tap the time field 

  3. Use the scroll wheels to select a time

  4. Tap Done

iCalendar

  • iOS: not supported

  • Android: download iCalendar file to device

URL

  • Links for realms open in the mobile app

  • Links for external domains open in a browser

Field validation checks if the entered data is a valid URL

File attachment

File attachments open in preview in the app

You can download various file types if the app is installed on your device

If the app isn't installed, you can download the file, but not open it

You can upload various file types if the app is installed on your device 

When uploading, you can upload from Files or take a picture with your camera

Address

  • iOS: Address opens in Maps

  • Android: Address opens in Google Maps

Locate button prompts the user to allow location services

Android (13 and above) and iOS (14 and above) can share Precise or Approximate location

For improved accuracy, grant permission to precise location

Some Android users need to switch on GoogleLocation Accuracy to use the Locate option

  • iOS: Map button appears in Maps

  • Android: Enter address in Google Maps

Phone number

When you tap a phone number, your Phone app opens with the number populated

Same as desktop app

Email

When you tap on an email address, your device’s default email client opens

Same as desktop app

User

Same as desktop app

You can't add additional users to User fields

List - User

Same as desktop app

  • You can't add users to List - User fields

  • Tap users in the user list to add or remove them from the field

  • Tap Done to accept  changes

vCard

  • iOS: not supported

  • Android: download vCard to device

Report link

  • Report links appear as links

  • Users have the option to create new records

  • Embedded reports are not supported in the mobile app
