About the Test Configuration tab
Available to: all roles, when your company has the QB Courier extension.
On the Test Configuration tab you send yourself a sample email, to check the subject, message, recipients, and attachments before the configuration goes live. Your recipients don't receive anything. See Create or edit a configuration.
For a Trigger configuration, you don't need to create the Quickbase email notification first. You can test the configuration on its own.
Send a test
Make sure the configuration's Status on the Configuration tab is Test Mode or Enabled. A Disabled configuration isn't run, so its test sends nothing.
Check the first box:
Trigger: enter the Record ID# of the record to use for the sample.
Scheduled and On Demand: the box shows the configuration's report ID, read-only. Courier uses the first record the report returns.
In Enter an email address, type the address that should get the sample. If you leave it empty, the sample goes to the Copy email address on the Email Options tab. The configurator remembers the address you enter for your next test.
Select TEST. When the request is sent, you see Test email sent successfully.
The test always sends a single sample, even when the configuration's Status is Enabled.
What the sample looks like
The sample goes to the test address as both To and CC. No BCC is sent.
It starts with a banner, QB COURIER : RUNNING IN TEST MODE: NO EMAILS WERE SENT TO CLIENTS, which also says how many emails the configuration would send when it's Enabled.
Below the banner is your message, filled in with the values from the sample record, and with that record's attachments and your generic attachments.
The Update field isn't written, and no record is added to the local activity log.
Courier's sending limits still apply. See View Limits in Create or edit a configuration.
If no sample arrives
Open the configuration's activities to see what happened in the run. See Configuration activities.
Check that the sample record has an address in the Email field. Courier skips records without one.
Check your spam or junk folder.
