About configurations
Available to: all roles, when your company has the QB Courier extension.
A configuration tells QB Courier which records to email, what the email says, who gets it, and when it's sent. You build it across six tabs, in this order:
Tab | What you set |
|---|---|
Configuration | Name, processing mode (Scheduled, On Demand, or Trigger), schedule, status, and the Quickbase app, table, and report. See Configuration tab. |
Email Options | The From address or mail server, the recipients (To, CC, BCC, Reply to), and the Update field. See Email Options tab. |
Email Message | The subject and message, with fields and subtables from your app. See Email Message tab. |
Email Attachments | Files to attach: uploaded files, file attachment fields, or Amazon S3. See Email Attachments tab. |
Test Configuration | Send a sample email to check your work. See Test Configuration tab. |
Finish | Email notification setup for Trigger configurations, Courier error emails, and the local activity log. See Finish tab. |
Create a configuration
In the Courier Configurations list, select Add new Courier configuration. The Configuration tab opens.
Fill in the Configuration tab and select SAVE AND NEXT. The other tabs unlock only after this first save.
Work through each tab. Select SAVE AND NEXT on each one to save it and move to the next.
On the Finish tab, select SAVE AND FINISH to return to the list.
New configurations start with the subject Add text for email subject here... and the From option Use qbcourier@quickbasetools.com. You can change both.
Edit or view a configuration
In the Courier Configurations list, select one of these on the configuration's row:
Edit Configuration (pencil) to change it. The buttons read UPDATE AND NEXT instead of SAVE AND NEXT.
View Configuration (eye) to look at it without making changes.
You can move between tabs by selecting their names. Save each tab before you leave it. If you leave the Configuration, Email Options, Email Message, or Email Attachments tab with unsaved changes, your browser asks Discard changes?
What's shown on every tab
Config Name : name(Id : id) at the top shows which configuration you're working on.
The Activities icon (list icon, top right) opens the configuration's run history. See Configuration activities.
The View Limits link opens CONFIGURATION LIMITS. On the Configuration, Email Attachments, Test Configuration, and Finish tabs, it appears only after the configuration has been saved.
View Limits
CONFIGURATION LIMITS shows the sending limits for this configuration:
Limit | What it means | Usual value |
|---|---|---|
Maximum # of Attachments for each email sent | The most files Courier attaches to one email. | 5 |
# of emails that can be sent in a single run | If a run would send more emails than this, Courier doesn't run it. | 300 |
# of emails that can sent each day | The daily total for this configuration. | 750 |
# of emails that can be sent each month | The monthly total for this configuration. | 3,500 |
The dialog notes: These limits are in place to help prevent messages from being flagged as spam. If you need more than the above, please open a support ticket. To raise a limit, open a Quickbase technical support case. To see how Courier applies limits, see Courier limits.
Select Close to close the dialog.
