You can add signer attachment tags to the envelope, just like any other DocuSign tags for a recipient—they can be either required or optional.
When a recipient receives the document to sign, they have to upload a document, which becomes part of the envelope. The next recipient who signs the envelope sees this document while signing.
The document that gets uploaded during signing is always converted to PDF.
Once the envelope is completed, all recipients receive the signed document back with any signer attachments appended.
DocuSign account settings
You first have to enable the signer attachment field from your DocuSign account's sending settings. The signer attachment feature has two additional options:
- Allow signers to add multiple attachments per field
- Append attachments to the document with the attachment field
If you want to append signer attachments to the documents without retrieving them separately, select the checkbox for the second option. You aren't able to receive the signer attachments separately once the envelope is completed.

Signer attachment tag settings
You first need to set up a signer attachment tag for a recipient, just like other tags. If you want to retrieve the signer attachment after the envelope is completed, update the QBupdatefid field with the field ID of the file attachment field from the master table.
You can also save signer attachments back to S3 the same way you save the signed document. Specify the field ID of the field where you want to store the S3 key of the signer attachment document.
You can specify one or more signer attachment tags for a recipient.
Note
You can only retrieve signer attachments separately if you haven't selected the Append attachments to the document with the attachment field option in your DocuSign account's sending settings.
