QB Maps
This utility does more than map a single location with Google Maps—it loads many locations from a Quickbase application, across as many tables as needed, plots them, and makes additional data for each location available right within the map. Imagine selecting a Google Map pin and seeing your Quickbase data appear in the popup window. Selecting a link within that window takes you right back to your Quickbase record.
The QB Maps extension also lets you select multiple points for best route driving directions, both on screen and in Google Maps.
Color coding of the pins as well as character coding and even images can be configured within your app and render on the map.
Some of the highlights
#1) The Location List tab contains a list of all the locations plotted on the map. You can select any of the markers on the map directly or select them from the list (see #4). After selecting a location, the map zooms in and focuses on that marker, along with an info window that displays data pulled from the Quickbase table (#7).
#2) The Get Directions tab lets you get the best route for navigation by selecting a source and a destination, either of which can be selected by selecting the radio button on the info window (#7) or by entering an address in the text box.
#5) The Clear button resets the map to its default view, deselects any selected source or destination, and zooms out to the default zoom value.
Also, when you select the Get Directions tab, you have the option to select an origin and destination to get directions. You can also draw a shape on the map to include as many points as needed for the best route between all selected points.
