Grid reports let you upload, replace, delete, restore, and lock files in file attachment fields without leaving the report. You can drag and drop files, see a type icon for each file, and undo or redo changes before you save.
Where file attachment editing works
You can edit file attachment fields in:
Standalone grid reports
Report and search widgets on dashboards
Grid reports embedded on forms and subforms
Upload a file
Select a file attachment cell, and then choose the file to upload. You can also drag a file onto the cell. If you drag a file while the report is in view mode, the report switches to edit mode automatically.
When the column is 200 pixels wide or wider, the upload button shows an icon and the label Upload file. Below 200 pixels, the button shows only the icon.

Manage files
You can replace, delete, restore, or lock a file in a file attachment field. Use these actions to change the file that's stored in the field.
When a file attachment column is 200 pixels wide or narrower, or when a long file name covers the actions, the file actions move into a menu. Open the menu to access the same actions.
Identify file types
Each file displays an icon based on its type. Quickbase shows icons for PDF, Excel, Word, and video files, and a default icon for all other file types.

Undo and redo changes
Before saving, use the undo and redo arrows next to Save to reverse or reapply file changes.
Save limits
The save limit counts all unsaved changes, including files and text. Each file can be up to 100 MB.
In grid reports and dashboard widgets, a warning appears as your unsaved changes approach the save limit. If your changes go over the limit, an error appears, and Save turns off. Undo recent changes and save the report, and then add fewer rows at a time or attach smaller files.

In forms and subforms, the same warning and error appear at the form level. The limit counts all changes on the form, including file attachment fields in embedded reports.
Locked files
A file that another user has locked can't be uploaded to, replaced, or changed until the user unlocks it. Locked files work the same way they do on forms.
Errors
If you see an error, use the table below to help resolve the issue.
