Most calculations are fast. Some fields, like formula queries or nested summary fields, can recalculate hundreds of millions of cells on every request, even when the underlying data hasn’t changed. Field caching lets you recalculate these fields only when data in your app changes—improving performance.
Use your business case knowledge to determine which of your apps don't need to recalculate a specific field on every request.
Field caching is available for eligible summary and formula fields on the Enterprise plan with the Advanced Performance Pack.
Eligible fields for caching
Field caching is available for:
Summary fields that don’t contain user permissions or filters, and don’t depend on fields that do
Formula fields that do not contain user filtering or formula queries
Turn on field caching
To turn on caching for eligible summary or formula fields:
Open the Field properties of a summary or formula field in your table.
Go to Advanced > Performance and check Evaluate this field only when data has changed.
