Audio Field

Prev Next

The Audio field lets users record a voice note or other audio right in the form. This article covers how to add an Audio field, set the recording quality and length, and configure its settings.

How the Audio field works

An Audio field records sound with the device's microphone. Users record a clip, play it back, and record again if they need to. The recording uploads with the submission.

Audio is useful when typing isn't practical. For example, an inspector can describe an issue out loud instead of typing notes with gloves on.

You can set the quality and the maximum length of each recording. Higher quality creates bigger files, so submissions take longer to upload.

Add an Audio field

  1. In the Form Builder, select Add Fields in the side bar.

  2. Under Multimedia, select Audio to add it after the selected field. You can also drag it onto the canvas where you want it.

The field appears on the canvas as Audio Field, and its field settings open on the General tab.

Set the quality and length

  1. In Field Label, enter the name users see, for example Voice Notes.

  2. Under Audio Settings, select a Quality: Low, Medium, High, or Max. The default is Low.

  3. In Maximum Length (seconds), enter the longest recording you allow, for example 120 for 2 minutes. Leave it empty for no limit.

Configure the field

Use the General, Behavior, and Appearance tabs in Field Settings to control how the field works.
