Field Type Overview

Prev Next

FastField offers field types for every kind of data you collect, from text and numbers to photos, signatures, and GPS locations. This article lists every field type in the Form Builder and what each one does.

How field types work

Each field on a form captures or shows one kind of information. The field type decides what users see in the app and what saves in the submission. For example, a Numeric field accepts only numbers, and a Signature field captures a hand-drawn signature.

In the Form Builder, the Add Fields tab groups the field types by category. To see what a field type does, hover over it. The tables in this article give a short version of each description.

Add a field

  1. In the Form Builder, select Add Fields in the side bar.

  2. Find the field type under its category, or search for it in Search field types...

  3. Select the field type to add it after the selected field. You can also drag it onto the canvas where you want it.

The new field's settings open in Field Settings, where you can name it and set it up.
