PDF Stamper

Features and functionality

This page lists what PDF Stamper produces, where the documents can be stored, and the features available when you build a template. Each feature links to the article that explains how to set it up.

Output

  • Adobe PDF document

Document storage

  • Documents can be stored in a file attachment field in Quickbase

  • Documents can be stored in an Amazon S3 bucket. A download link is provided for viewing/downloading documents stored in Amazon S3. See Cloud provider overview.

Features

  • Create PDF documents from a PDF template stored in your app. A formula URL button on the record sends the request, and the finished document is attached to the file attachment field you name in the button. See PDF Stamper formula URL parameters.

  • Place data in two ways. In a fillable PDF, put a field reference such as ~6~ in a form field. In any PDF, add record data that stamp text, images, or barcodes at an exact page, X position, and Y position. You can use both methods in one template. See PDF templates and Stamp data using X and Y coordinates.

  • Format stamped text. Choose the font, size, color, style (regular, bold, italic, underline, or strikeout), and alignment (left, center, right, or justify) for each stamp.

  • Handle rich text fields and place them on the document

  • Include related data in child tables. Detail records, such as the order lines for an invoice, appear as a table in the PDF. See Include related data with subtables.

  • Include images embedded in the document, linked to file attachment fields, or linked to other websites. You can also stamp barcodes generated from field values.

  • Stamp multi-page PDF files. Choose a specific page, a range of pages, the last pages counted from the end, or every page.

  • Include watermarks in your documents. A rich text field supplies the watermark image, a checkbox field turns it on, and you choose its position (top left, top right, center, bottom left, or bottom right) and the page it appears on.

  • Handle multi-record document creation to create multiple documents in a single button click. You can trigger the documents to be created based on a data change in Quickbase. To do this, use the PDF Stamper Batch Processor.

  • Create a single merged PDF document from multi-record document creation transactions, and save it to a file attachment field or to Amazon S3

  • Save documents in a file attachment field in the same table, in a separate document repository table (adding a new record or updating an existing one), or in Amazon S3

  • Record when a document was created by updating a stamped date field on the record

  • Update the record before the document is created with the preqbaction parameter, for example, to save the date and the name of the user who selected the button

  • Store and manage your Document Templates from a table within your Quickbase app
