The subject line. It can include fields from the record.

Message

Yes

Message/Subject Field List

Yes, for Trigger

Shown only for Trigger configurations. The IDs of the fields used in the subject and message, separated by periods, for example 6.7.12. See Trigger configurations: the field list.

Add fields from the record

The Table Fields panel lists the fields you can use, each shown as Field name [field ID]:

  • For Scheduled and On Demand configurations, the fields in the configuration's report.

  • For Trigger configurations, all the fields in the table.

Drag a field into the Subject or Message. The configurator inserts the field's name in square brackets, for example [Customer Name]. When Courier sends the email, it replaces the name with that record's value. You can also type the field name in square brackets yourself.

For Scheduled and On Demand configurations, every field you use must be in the report. Otherwise the run stops, and the activities list the missing fields.

Trigger configurations: the field list

For a Trigger configuration, Courier only reads the fields listed in Message/Subject Field List.

  • When you drag a field into the subject or message, its ID is added to the list automatically.

  • When you type a field name yourself, add its ID to the list by hand, separated from the others by a period.

If a field is missing from the list, the run stops, and the activities show The following fields are missing in the clist used to select the data for the message., followed by the missing fields.

Add tables of related records

The Sub Table panel lists your saved email message subtables. Drag one into the Message to insert its reference, for example ~strid=12~. When Courier sends the email, it replaces the reference with a table of the record's related records.

Images and formatting

  • Use the editor's toolbar to format text and to add links, images, and video.

  • Images and video you upload are stored by file name. Give each file a unique name, so it doesn't replace a file another configuration uses.

  • Each recipient's email app decides how the message looks. Send a test to the email services your recipients use. See Test Configuration tab.

Save

  • Select SAVE AND NEXT (UPDATE AND NEXT when editing). When the save succeeds, you see Email message saved successfully, and the Email Attachments tab opens.

  • Select BACK to return to the Email Options tab.
