Enhancements

Increased record limits in embedded reports, documents, and emails

We’ve increased the following limits to help you display more data:

  • Number of records in embedded reports on a form (from 20 to 40)

  • Number of records in an embedded report when printing a form (from 20 to 40)

  • Number of records in a report directly placed on a document or custom email (from 100 to 200)

Navigation—redirects with invalid realms

Previously, if you made a request to an invalid realm, but with a valid app ID or table ID, Quickbase returned an invalid realm error. Now, we'll automatically redirect you to the correct realm. This helps minimize impact to things like your bookmarks if you change your realm name.

Quickbase returns an HTTP 301 Permanent Redirect response in these cases. You may need to update any related formula field or custom script which refers to an invalid realm. For Formula fields, the best practice is to use URLRoot() to link to another page on the same realm, rather than hard-coding a realm like example.quickbase.com

Note

It is important to correct these invalid realms wherever you find them because:

  • Your script may or may not follow the re-direct

  • Even successful redirects may be rate-limited to protect the Quickbase platform

Pipelines enhancements

New Generate Image step in the OpenAI channel

Use the new Generate Image step in the OpenAI Pipelines channel to create custom, AI-generated visuals directly within your workflows. This step is helpful for enhancing content, automating creative tasks, and prototyping ideas.

Increased pipeline description character limit

We’ve increased the character limit of pipeline descriptions from 256 to 5,000. This helps you better document what each pipeline does, especially if they are more complex. As a reminder, you can also add notes to each step to provide even more detail.

Quick reference widget now resizable

To support your ability to view additional metadata in a pipeline, the Quick reference widget is now resizable. Expand it as much as you need or revert it to its original size and position.

Pipelines activity log step index

All step activities now display the index in the activity log, making it easier to understand the sequence of step execution in the log. Additionally, we’ve added a direct link to open the related pipeline.

FastField channel—streamlined dispatch setup

The FastField channel Dispatch a Form step now allows you to pre-fill the merge fields dynamically, without needing to specify the form ID or which merge fields to fill in first.

Reverting error notification CC to realm admins

With the latest release, we started sending error email notifications to realm admins, in addition to pipeline owners. This was intended to ensure broader visibility. We're now reverting this functionality and will not CC realm admins on error notifications. This is due to concerns about the volume of notifications for larger realms and a lack of flexibility, such as the ability to opt out. We'll continue to improve this functionality based on feedback.

Dashboards for apps created from scratch

Apps created from scratch using the visual builder now come with our latest version of dashboards by default, as opposed to a legacy home page. This update provides a cleaner starting point and more flexible foundation for customizing your app.

Quickbase mobile app—easier navigation between records

We're introducing a record navigation bar in the updated forms experience on mobile, available when viewing records. This adds the following buttons to your forms:

  • Previous record

  • Next record

  • Table home (using the name of your current table)

This enhancement makes it easier to move between records while you’re on the go. It will be available in version 1.71 of the Quickbase mobile app—available in Google Play and Apple's App Store by the end of July.

Dependency diagram—number of calculations for each field

The dependency diagram will now show an estimated number of calculations for each field in the chain. This is the minimum number of calculations Quickbase needs to perform to evaluate the field when it is used, per record. Currently, it does not include formula queries. We'll continue to refine this estimate.

Release notes app (coming soon)

Over the next few months, we'll be rolling out a new way to view release notes—via a Quickbase app. This new experience will make it easier to sort, filter, and scan for updates that matter to you. And with improved notification settings, you'll always be in the loop. Stay tuned for more details.
