Upgrade an older JuicedSign setup

Prev Next

If JuicedSign was set up in your app with an older version, some newer features need fields your app doesn't have yet. This page explains how to upgrade, and what each version added.

Upgrade with the wizard

The easiest way to upgrade is the installation wizard's Upgrade Setup option.

  1. Start the JuicedSign wizard from the Extensions Portal, and choose your app. See Set up JuicedSign.

  2. On the Application step, choose Upgrade Setup. It's offered only if your app already has the Document Templates, JuicedSign Management, JuicedSign Recipients, and JuicedSign Recipient Tags tables.

  3. Finish the wizard. It tells you that the app was upgraded, or that it's already on the current version and nothing else is needed.

What Upgrade Setup does:

  • Adds any missing fields to the four JuicedSign tables, including the Tags Configurator fields on Document Templates.

  • Adds new choices to existing fields, such as new tag types in Type of Tag, and new fonts, sizes, and colors.

What it doesn't do:

  • It doesn't change the table you send from. It doesn't add or update Send to JuicedSign, Preview Agreement, Signed Document Info, JuicedSign Batch Arguments, or JuicedSign Error Details there.

  • It doesn't rewrite the formulas of fields you already have, such as buttons.

  • To update those, run a full JuicedSign setup on the table, or ask support.

If you add fields yourself, use the exact name and field type shown on this page. A field with the right name but a different type isn't recognized.

Which version do I have?

The version shown in JuicedSign's windows is the version of the JuicedSign service, not of the setup in your app. To see what your app has, look for these fields. Each one means your setup is at least that version:

If your app has

Your setup is at least

Type of Tag choices Initials, Signature (Name Editable), Initials (Inits Editable)

2.0

Type of Tag choice Approve or Decline; QBDefaultfid and Ignore if Not Present in JuicedSign Recipient Tags

3.0

Type of Tag choice Checkbox; QB User Email in JuicedSign Management

4.0

Button Text in JuicedSign Recipient Tags

4.5

Character Limit and Multiple Lines in JuicedSign Recipient Tags

5.0

Reset Security Code Counter in JuicedSign Recipients; JuicedSign Error Details in JuicedSign Management; Signed Document Info on your table

6.0

A configid= in JuicedSign Batch Arguments

7.0

If you're not sure, run Upgrade Setup. It adds only what's missing.

Version 7.0

What's new:

  • Unsubscribe and resubscribe for recipients. See Unsubscribe and resubscribe.

  • Access codes by email: JuicedSign emails each recipient their access code. See Access codes.

  • Temporary tokens on every button, for web and batch, for Quickbase's enhanced security.

  • Batch configurations: batch runs are checked against a batch configuration. See Batch configuration.

  • Required fields can be filled in after the signature and initials tags.

To upgrade:

  • Unsubscribe needs no changes in your app.

  • Buttons from older setups don't send a temporary token. If your account uses Quickbase's enhanced security, older buttons stop working. Run a full JuicedSign setup to get new buttons, or ask support to update them.

  • For batch, the JuicedSign Batch Arguments field needs a configid=. See Use a configuration in batch runs.

Version 6.0

What's new:

  • Access codes, with a counter you can reset. See Access codes.

  • Documents from and to other places: Amazon S3, Dropbox, and file fields in another table. See Button parameters.

  • More detailed reasons when an email address fails the email check.

  • Tooltips on tags, from the tag's Label field.

To upgrade:

  • Run Upgrade Setup. It adds Access Code, the Reset Security Code Counter button, Resend Email Sent Date, and Resend Email Status to JuicedSign Recipients, JuicedSign Error Details to JuicedSign Management, and Label to JuicedSign Recipient Tags.

  • Set access codes in the sixth part of the Recipient String. See Recipients.

  • To save signed documents to S3, Dropbox, or another table, use signeddocinfo in your button instead of signeddocfafid. Your existing signeddocfafid keeps working. See Where to save.

Version 5.0

What's new:

  • Text tags can have a character limit and multiple lines.

  • New landing pages for recipients: success, error, declined, finish later, and sign offline.

  • Better alignment of drawn signatures.

To upgrade (optional), add to JuicedSign Recipient Tags:

  • Character Limit: Numeric.

  • Multiple Lines: Checkbox.

Version 4.5

What's new:

  • Button Text: replace Click to Sign with your own text.

  • Allow or block drawing or picking a style for each recipient, with draw and font in the button. See Choose how recipients sign.

  • A Text tag's validation pattern must pass before the recipient can finish.

To upgrade (optional):

  • Add Button Text (Text) to JuicedSign Recipient Tags.

  • Add draw and font to your Send to JuicedSign button if you want to limit how recipients sign.

Version 4.0

What's new:

  • Checkbox tag.

  • Ignore if Not Present also works for Signature and Initials tags.

  • Save entries from line items back to sub-table records. See Save entries back to sub-table records.

  • A limit on how many times a signing link can be opened.

  • Agreements can be completed with Initials tags only.

  • Landscape PDFs.

To upgrade:

  • Add the choice Checkbox to Type of Tag in JuicedSign Recipient Tags.

  • Optional: add QB User Email (Text) to JuicedSign Management, and & "&qbuseremail=" & UserToEmail(User()) inside your button's Base64Encode(...), to record who sent each agreement.

Version 3.0

What's new:

To upgrade, in JuicedSign Recipient Tags:

  • Add the choice Approve or Decline to Type of Tag.

  • Add QBDefaultfid (Text) and Ignore if Not Present (Checkbox).

  • Make sure the table has Page Number, X Position, Y Position, Validation Pattern, and Validation Message, and that Anchor String isn't required.

  • For batch, you need JuicedSign Batch Arguments and JuicedSign Error Details on your table. Run a full JuicedSign setup to get them, with a batch configuration. See Create agreements automatically (batch).

Version 2.0

What's new:

  • Word documents, which JuicedSign converts to PDF.

  • Validation of tag entries by type, such as email, number, and date, and required or optional tags.

  • Initials tag, and editable signature and initials tags. See Editable names and initials.

  • An agreement is voided when a recipient chooses Print & Sign.

  • Recipients can open an agreement with the access token from the email. See The signing experience.

  • JuicedSign Account Settings and senders in the Extensions Portal. See Account settings and senders.

  • A SHA-256 fingerprint is recorded for each document.

To upgrade, add these choices to Type of Tag in JuicedSign Recipient Tags, spelled exactly like this: Initials, Signature (Name Editable), Initials (Inits Editable).

Fields added after these versions

Upgrade Setup also adds these, if your app doesn't have them:

  • The Multiple Choice tag type, and Value for Multiple Choice.

  • Font Color TC, for the color of typed signatures, initials, and the signed date.

  • The Tags Configurator fields: JuicedSign PDF Template, Launch Tags Configurator, and others on Document Templates and JuicedSign Recipient Tags. See Tags Configurator.

For every field, see Document tags and JuicedSign tables and fields.
